Greetings Youth Ministry Coordinators!!!
Well, it almost time to begin another year of ministry to the Young Church. I hope that you have been able to get some relaxing, winding down time. I have been sending out a lot of emails to you lately because there is a lot going on right now. This newsletter is specific to you as someone who leads and directs youth ministry in your parish. You will also receive all other updates from me so that you will be in the loop. I always welcome your comments, ideas, and suggestions!
Workshop on Teen Sexual Abuse

The Law Enforcement Perspective
The workshop this past Monday was very informative although difficult. It is hard to hear about the numbers of youth who are victims of domestic violence and/or sexual abuse. Leandra Pelaquin from the Rape Crisis Center gave us a very thorough overview of what actions we need to take as people who have been entrusted with the care of young people. This coming Monday, Aug 21, two detectives from the Sheriff's Department of Santa Clara County will give us a perspective of what they must do when a teen has been raped or abused. I encourage you to attend, and to bring those adult leaders who are members of your core teams. The last worshop in this series will be the following Monday August 28, 6:30-8:30 pm-Teen Issues, presented by Andi Grandy. Both workshops will be held at the Chancery, St. Joseph Conference Room, 3rd floor.

Tahoe

It will go on....
I know that I have been raising questions about Tahoe. Raising questions and asking for advice about the projects that come out of my office is essential. So I have gathered a task force who will help me address these questions. My purpose in doing so is to ensure that we can continue this experience in the present while working out potential obstacles that might inhibit it in the future. Tahoe 2007 is booked for the third week in June!!!!
