Hello Fathers,
Youth Council Update
Thank you for your support regarding the development of the Bishop’s Youth Council. Every young person who has applied appears to be outstanding.
We hope to have the Youth Council discerned this month.
New YMC’s need to go to this!!!
Congratulations to those parishes who have recently hired new Youth Ministry Coordinators to their staffs, or who have assigned newly ordained priests to develop this ministry in the parish. It is imperative that these lay ecclesial ministers and priests have the skills and training to be successful. The best training in the country is the National Certificate Program and I hope to see those entrusted with leading this ministry register for this training. Please let me know as soon as possible if you are planning to send your Youth Ministry Coordinator and other ministers to this training. The Diocese of San Jose is a member of the Nor-Cal Youth Ministry Diocesan Directors group which sponsors this training, and we are in the final planning stages for the coming year.
New Directions in Youth Ministry for Middle School, Junior High and Parish Schools!
On the horizon for youth ministry, is the understanding that middle school and junior high school youth need a more interactive, youth engaging faith formation experience which includes youth in the parish catholic school. I am excited to see several of our parishes moving in this direction and I am certain that this will be “par for the course” in the coming years.
